S3 Association (Spartan Spouses & Significant Others)
Welcome to the Michigan State University MBA Broad Family!
We'd like to take this opportunity to tell you about a very unique and special organization we have within the Broad community called Spartan Spouses & Significant Others-more commonly known as S3.
S3 was formed in 2000 to provide social activities, support, and peer networking opportunities for not only students, but also their spouses, significant others, and in some cases children. Aiming to make the transition smoother and more enjoyable for couples and families starting/going through an MBA program, S3 is a great way to meet new friends and form a support network with others experiencing the same things as you.
Activities on the S3 Agenda for 2008-09 include (but are not limited to):
- Welcome Banquet (kickoff dinner)
- Orientation Picnic
- International Potluck Supper
- Book club, movie club, yoga club, knitting club.
- Cider Mill trip
- Lansing Lugnuts Baseball game(s)
- Wine Tasting
- Various dinners, seasonal events, and many more activities!
For all of you weekend warriors, S3 joins the MBA Association (MBAA) at all of the home football game tailgates during the Fall semester as well as other combined events throughout the rest of the year.
Please stay tuned to this Web site for schedules and future updates on 2008-09 events, starting with our S3 Welcome Banquet on Wednesday, August 27th, 2008, at 6:15 pm, at the University Club of Michigan (specific details on this event will be announced in August)
We urge everyone to get involved, and look forward to an exciting year! We also welcome new ideas and help in coordinating events. If you are interested in getting involved in S3, would like to share ideas for future events, would like to be added to the distribution list to receive S3 email materials, or simply have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the 2008-09 S3 Co-Directors:

- Positively represent the MBA Broad Program and the greater Lansing community through diverse social activities.
- Foster camaraderie and communication within S3 and between S3 and MBAA.
- Provide incoming and current students, spouses, and children with an instant network of friends and activities.
- Ensure that there is a place for everyone in S3 regardless of whether or not you have children or have moved here from another country.
