Financial Aid
The Broad MBA Program offers over $1 million in competitive scholarships and graduate assistantships each year, based on the strategic goals of the MBA Program. Strong GMAT scores, qualified work experience and an excellent undergraduate GPA are among the criteria used to award scholarships and graduate assistantships to entering MBA students. All applicants to the Broad MBA Program are considered automatically for scholarships and graduate assistantships; however, applicants should apply early in the admissions year to be most competitive.

Scholarships typically range from $2,000 to $12,000 per year for two years. Broad Scholarships, our most prestigious scholarships, are awarded to approximately 4 entering MBA students each fall. Broad Scholars are selected for their outstanding GMAT scores, strong academic record, work experience and leadership potential. Broad Scholars receive a Graduate Assistantship plus a $17,750 scholarship.

Quarter-time graduate assistantships are worth approximately $13,000 per year for in-state students and approximately $20,000 per year for out-of-state students. Graduate assistants receive in-state tuition, health care coverage for the enrolled student, a tuition waiver of approximately $3,000 per semester, a registration fee waiver, a monthly stipend and access to faculty/staff parking on campus.

Additional financial aid is available in the form of loans for domestic students. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be completed. For more information on financial assistance, contact the Michigan State University Office of Financial Aid.

The Broad Scholarship
This is the most prestigious award that the Broad MBA Program offers. The scholarship entails a Graduate Assistantship plus a $17,750 scholarship. (This is an approximate value of $31,000 for instate students, and $38,000 for out-of-state students.) The Broad Scholars join an outstanding network of Broad Scholar alumni, and receives benefits such as the attending the Broad Scholars Dinner with the Dean, and meeting influential business leaders who visit campus. Broad Scholars are nominated as they are reviewed for admission. All Broad Scholars must go through a process to win the scholarship once they are nominated. This includes a campus visit and interviews with Admissions Staff, the Director of the Career Services Center, Faculty, and Broad Scholar Alumni.

This special designation is reserved for entering MBA students who meet the criteria of our highest scholarship and assistantship awards but already have full support for their MBA studies from their current employer or governmental agency. These criteria include exemplary work experience, leadership activities, strong test scores and strong undergraduate performance. Broad Corporate Scholars share many of the same benefits of the traditional Broad Scholars, including an invitation to the Dean's Broad Scholar Reception in the early fall and the opportunity to meet influential business leaders who visit The Broad School.
