Real-world Experience
Case Competitions
MBA Students from top B-schools compete in case competitions every year to prove their decision making skills on real-time projects. These competitions not only give students bragging rights for the next 365 days but also help showcase "how prepared" students are for the real-world.
Broad MBA students have consistently placed in the top 3 in these competitions- just another example of the preparation you get when you join our team.
Spartan Consulting
A student-operated consulting firm, Spartan Consulting Inc. advises clients on a variety of business issues. Its main focus is offering students the opportunity to obtain knowledge of the consulting industry and to gain hands-on consulting and teamwork experience. Past consulting engagements have included creating a new business plan and providing strategic marketing advice for CyberPunk Entertainment Group, an e-retailing operation, along with assisting Agate Software with the marketing responsibilities of implementing a new Web site for the State of Michigan. Some other projects consisted of advising PostalExpress.com on developing a business plan to present to venture capitalists and developing a marketing plan for RoyalCoffeemaker.com, importers of the Belgium Coffeemaker.
Lab Practice
A winning team spends a lot of time on the practice field before it ever enters the arena. This philosophy works for MBA students as well as MSU Spartan athletic teams. It distinguishes the Broad MBA from other programs-and it gives Broad grads an edge in the job market. This "practice-makes-perfect" approach, as it is carried out in our three cutting-edge lab environments, is one reason Broad recruiters report that they hire our accomplished graduates. These employers are confident in the Broad MBA's ability to get things done.
